Visual essay of 16 pages produced during a workshop proposed by Alain Rodriguez.
I built my sequential narration on a 1987 essay, "La Théorie de la Fiction-Panier" by Ursula Le Guin. This essay is a rewriting of human history that values gatherers rather than hunters. It tells the banal daily life of those who collect wild oats and transport them to pass them on, rather than the singular story of the violent & victorious hero whose bloodthirsty exploits are painted on the walls of the cave and told... It's a story where the weapon is not the first cultural equipment, but the basket and in which everyone, also the women, can recognize themselves.
All the essays produced during the workshop had to be assembled to constitute a visual collection (compilation in progress), like the Bill magazine directed by the Belgian graphic designer Julie Peeters and edited by Roma publications.
